People come to me when they are stuck, confused, or tired of second-guessing themselves. After nearly 30 years of readings, I can tell you there is a very particular feel to it when someone is heading in the right direction. It is not always dramatic. It is not always pleasant. It is rarely the same as “everything is working out.”
Most of the time, the first sign is quieter than people expect. The energy gets cleaner. Less static. Less performing. Someone might still be scared, still grieving, still uncertain about the details, but their field stops fighting itself.
I have sat across from people who were about to make a big change and they were shaking with nerves, yet their energy had a kind of honest steadiness. I have also sat with people who were smiling, “positive,” saying all the right things, while their energy felt like a locked door. When I say “right direction,” I am talking about that steadiness, not the smiling.
The first thing I notice is a drop in internal noise
When someone is moving the way their life wants to move, the mental chatter does not vanish, but it loses its grip. The energy stops circling the same few thoughts like a dog on a leash. I often see this in clients who have been obsessively researching, asking ten friends, booking three readings, then coming back for another because they still cannot feel their own answer. When the direction is right, the need to keep collecting outside validation softens.
Sometimes they tell me, “I don’t know why, but I’m not as frantic about it.” That sentence is a strong sign. They are still engaged. They still care. They just are not possessed by the question.
Energetically, that shows up as more space around the head and forehead. The breath drops lower. The eyes look less hunted. I am not speaking poetically here. I can feel it in the room. The person is more present. Their energy is not ten steps ahead trying to control the outcome.
One pattern I have seen a lot is that the “right direction” can arrive with a strange mixture of relief and irritation. Relief because something inside finally says yes. Irritation because the ego wants a cleaner story and a guaranteed timeline. People do not always like the right direction at first. They just recognize it.
Right direction energy often comes with resistance in the body
Here is something that surprises people. Heading in the right direction does not always feel light. It can feel heavy in a very specific way. Not the sinking, depressed heaviness of being drained, but the weight of reality. The body knows it is going to have to show up.
I have seen clients get a tight throat right when we touch the truth, not because it is wrong, but because they are about to speak differently, set a boundary, ask for what they want, or admit something they have been avoiding. The energy moves up, meets the old blockage, then presses on it. That pressure can feel like anxiety. Many people misread it and back away.
In sessions, I pay attention to whether the anxiety is sharp and scattered, or focused and purposeful. Scattered anxiety feels like a hundred bees in the chest. Focused anxiety feels like standing at the edge of cold water knowing you are going in. One is a warning sign. The other is often initiation.
I also see a lot of warmth in the solar plexus when someone is aligned, even if they are scared. Not a bubbly excitement, more like a steady heat, like a pilot light. People describe it as “I just know I have to do it.” That sentence is another strong marker.
When someone is forcing the wrong direction, their energy gets brittle. The body is tense in a defensive way. The jaw is set. The shoulders rise. The person is trying to out-muscle life. When it is the right direction, the body may still tense, but it is the tension of building strength, not the tension of denial.
Another thing I notice is how the person relates to time. When they are aligned, they get more patient without becoming passive. They stop demanding immediate proof. They still take action, but they are less obsessed with controlling every step. I have watched people move into the right work, the right relationship, or the right city, and the timeline was not always quick. What changed first was their energy. They stopped bargaining with themselves every day.
People often think “signs” will be fireworks. In real life, I see more ordinary signals. Coincidences that feel friendly, not frantic. A door opens without them having to lie, chase, or contort themselves. A conversation that lands at the right moment. A little bit of momentum that keeps returning even after a setback.
Setbacks are part of it. I want to be blunt about that. If someone tells me, “Everything is falling apart, so I must be off track,” I slow them down. Sometimes things fall apart because the old structure cannot come with them. In those moments, the energy has a stripping quality. Less comfort. More truth. That can feel raw. Yet underneath it, I often feel a steadier current than they have had in years.
When someone is not heading in the right direction, the signs can be loud too. The same argument repeating. The same exhaustion. The same door closing in a humiliating way. The “right direction” is not always smooth, but it tends to have learning in it. The wrong direction tends to have looping.
I also watch for how a person treats their own intuition. When they are aligned, they stop using intuition as a slot machine. They become more respectful with it. They might still ask me questions, but the questions get cleaner. Less “tell me what will happen” and more “help me understand what I already feel.” Their energy becomes more self-owned.
One of the clearest energetic tells is when someone can tolerate being misunderstood. Not because they have shut down, but because they are no longer living for approval. When the direction is right, the field firms up around the edges. Boundaries become less aggressive and more natural. They do not need to announce them as much. They just live them.
I have watched people start doing the thing they are meant to do, and their old friends do not get it, their family worries, the money is not fully sorted yet, and still their energy looks better. Their face softens. Their sleep improves. They laugh more easily. They stop apologizing for existing. Those are not lofty spiritual concepts. Those are real, observable changes.
If I had to describe “right direction” in one phrase from my own experience, it would be this. The energy becomes more honest. Honest does not always feel good in the moment, but it feels real, and it does not require constant self-betrayal to maintain it.
When someone is moving with that kind of honesty, I feel it right away. The room feels clearer. The words come easier. Even the silence has shape. And even if they are walking into the unknown, something in them is no longer arguing with their own life.
